Pure Tranquility

Lake Kariba is the largest man-made lake and reservoir by volume and is located on the Zambezi River, about halfway between the river's source and mouth, around 1300kms upstream from the Indian Ocean.

The lake has a magical air about it and there is no better way to enjoy it's wild majesty than on her waters in one of our house-boats where you can view the variety of wildlife that inhabit the lake shore. Teaming with fish, hippo's and crocodiles, the lake is also home to a wide variety of birdlife rnaging from the magnificent African Fish Eagle to the Little Kingfisher. We have two houseboats on Kariba, The Liberty Bell and Karabezi which is currently being fully renovated and will be available early in 2010.

Liberty Bell is a very up-market, neat and tidy Steel Catamaran that is beautifully furnished and practically fitted out. The vessel can sleep a maximum of 8 guests in two forward cabins each with double bed and two rear cabins, each having two single bunks. Both front and rear cabins have en-suite shower, toilet and wash basin. There is a Jacuzzi with garden type furniture in a shaded area to the rear of an air conditioned saloon situated on the centre deck which provides a welcome retreat from the Kariba sun.

The whole boat is well designed to utilise the available space in an unusually compact but comfortable layout.  There is a well equipped galley with both gas and Microwave ovens and this is located totally separately to the guests living area as are the Crews quarters. The Crew, which consists of the Captain, Chef and Deckhand, have their own ablution facilities adjacent to their cabin.
